July - in video format!
I know i haven't loaded any photos or written anything in forever. we have been really busy. we had our summer vacation this month and went to busan. it was a blast! we had fresh (i mean FRESH) sushimi- juli picked out the fish and it was cut up right in front of us and served minutes later. we went to the beaches, to one of the oldest temples in korea... we had a great time. we also found our new favorite place in Icheon - it's called Jenny's. mason and i really wanted to play darts one night, so our korean friend jjang took us around from bar to bar but we couldn't find any darts. finally he took us to jenny's where they have an electronic dart board. it turns out jenny owns the place and her fiance works there as well. they are some of the coolest koreans we have met so far. sun (jenny's fiance) knows some english, enough to communicate. we had them over to our house the other night, they are just so nice. so we had a really fun month! photos to come. ANYWAY- check out the video for this month over at vimeo -http://www.vimeo.com/13984862

Super delicious burger found in a tiny shop in Seoul.
A trip to Seoul and an early birthday celebration while Jina was here.
A BBQ at our director's house.
A paper rose for teacher's day.
At the park near our house.
After seeing this poster i was super pumped. However the show turned out to be a bunch of junk welded together.

ive been slacking
hey- if you check this occasionally, you will know i haven't written or posted anything in awhile. you will also know that i am not big on punctuation. juli hates this. oh well. we have had a really good month- and i will post photos and another video soon of the past month. right now i dont have my camera handy and i am lazy so i am not loading any pictures. jina came to visit us and it was a really good time. we took trips to Seoul on the weekends and tried to pack in as much as we could! we went to a few rad places- we stumbled upon some "world friendship day" or something. there were a ton of booths from countries around the world selling stuff - it was really awesome. we picked up a handmade painting from mongolia, an oil sent burner thing from... india? i dont remember. jina grabbed a purse from Pakistan i think... and we got a few other goodies. it was really neat. we also went to the ceramics festival again and saw a few museums... i got some new shoes which are really comfy... we did a lot. also, our friend from home just arrived so we will be seeing him this weekend.
we got some rad postcards from erin and jaylen and kasey and sage - it was so much fun to get some mail! we are enjoying teaching and getting to know our kids, teaching them is as fun and as frustrating as we thought it would be! they are so cute and funny, and they can also be crazy and annoying! it is fantastic. we are missing our friends and our family and our dog, but we are having a great time and a really fun adventure.
last weekend we had a party for all of the teachers, americans, canadians, and koreans all together. it was at our principal's parents house and it was a lot of fun. we had a traditional korean meal called sam-gap-sal (not sure about the spelling...). pretty much you bbq up a bunch of really thick bacon, put hot spices and veggies with it, wrap it in a salad leaf and eat it like a little burrito wrap. it is super good and it was really fun to hang out with all of the korean teachers. we are making friends with them and it is a lot of fun.
the weather has turned really hot recently- today it was rainy but hot and really humid. if this is spring... i dont know what summer will be like! it is great but hotter and stickier than i thought it would be.
while jina was here we tried screen golf for the first time. golfing is really expensive in korea, so a lot of people play screen golf. it is like a video game where there is a huge screen from an LCD, and a camera that measures your swing. you hit the ball at a giant drape... i dont know if it is lead or what... but when you hit it the ball falls straight down, then rolls back to you into a machine that sets up for your next shot. also, the place where you stand moves and angles depending on where you hit the ball... so if you hit it onto a slope going from left to right, the whole floor moves from left to right to make it more realistic. it is a ton of fun, and only ten bucks to play.
we are having a great time and we cant wait for more people to visit- i think jenna and ed are coming to visit us sometime in the summer - and our friends johnny and emily might move here in august to teach as well. it will be awesome. if you want to visit us, we have a spare bedroom and will show you a good time. after the airfare, everything is cheap. this weekend we have a holiday so we are going away for a weekend trip to Seoul for an early birthday gift to juli. we are going to stay two nights in a cheap hostel or something and just enjoy the city without having to bus back and forth. we found that saving the bus fare for 3 trips is pretty much the cost of a cheap place in Seoul anyway... we are really excited. photos and more stories soon!

ceramics festival / a view of Icheon, our new home
We went to a ceramics festival here in Icheon on the weekend. It was a lot of fun. There were so many good artists displaying and selling their work. Juli and I ended up buying a couple of tea mugs for brewing single cups of loose leaf tea. They are beautiful. We went with our friend Andre and our roommate Sophie. It was a blast.
Some cool stuff found at the festival, including chopped wood made into a perfect cylinder and a really creepy family made out of ceramics.
Sophie and Andre came to the park with us! good times.
Cell phone charms bought at the festival... very Korean.
Views of Icheon from the park near our home.
The cherry blossoms open and looking amazing!
A sculpture at the park.
